How do I use Word Counter?

How is a word counted?
Any sequence of non-whitespace characters separated by whitespace. Numbers, hyphenated words, and contractions each count as one word.
How is reading time calculated?
Word count divided by 238 words per minute, the average adult silent reading rate from research. The result is rounded up to the nearest second.
How is speaking time calculated?
Character count divided by 1 000 characters per minute, an average conversational pace. Actual pace depends on the speaker.
How are sentences counted?
Runs of text that end with a period, exclamation mark, or question mark. Abbreviations and initials may slightly overcount.
How are paragraphs counted?
Blocks separated by one or more blank lines. A single block with no blank lines is one paragraph.
What does sentence case do?
Lowercases the text and then capitalises the first letter after each sentence-ending punctuation mark.
Is there a daily limit?
No. There is no daily cap on this tool.
