Questions

Which OGG codecs work?

Ogg Vorbis is widely supported in Chrome and Firefox. Opus-in-Ogg may work depending on the browser. Unsupported codecs fail locally with a clear error.

Why is WAV so much larger?

OGG is compressed; WAV is uncompressed PCM. Expect a much bigger file. Use mono and 16 kHz for speech to reduce size.

Does Safari support OGG?

Safari’s OGG support is limited. If decode fails, try Chrome or Firefox, or convert via another format first.
