What is a download time calculator?
Download time is file size divided by transfer speed. ISPs quote speed in megabits per second (Mbps). Files are measured in megabytes (MB). What does Download Time do?
It estimates how long a file takes to download from the size and the speed. Overhead from Wi-Fi or the protocol is not included, so a real transfer can take longer.
How do I use Download Time?

What is the formula?
Time = size ÷ speed, after both are in the same units. For megabytes and megabits, convert the file to bits (× 8) or the speed to bytes (÷ 8).
What is the difference between Mbps and MB/s?
Mbps is megabits per second. MB/s is megabytes per second. One byte is 8 bits, so 8 Mbps is about 1 MB/s. A 50 Mbps plan is about 6 MB/s, not 50 MB/s.
Why is 700 MB at 50 Mbps about 2 minutes?
700 MB is 700 × 1024 × 1024 bytes. 50 Mbps is 50,000,000 bits per second. Divide size by speed and you get about 117 seconds, which is 1 minute 57 seconds.
Does this use 1000 or 1024?
File sizes use 1024 (1 MB = 1,048,576 bytes). Bit rates such as Mbps use 1000 (1 Mbps = 1,000,000 bits per second). That mix matches ISP plans and OS file sizes.
