File Hash
MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384, or SHA-512 of a local file. Compare a known digest. Nothing is uploaded.
Drop a file to hash it in this tab.
How it works
Drop the file
One file, up to 5 MB. The name appears under the drop zone. The X clears it. The file stays in this tab. Easy24 does not receive it.
Pick algorithms and encoding
Select one or more of MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384, and SHA-512. Hex is lowercase. Base64 is standard. Turning on another algorithm hashes the file already in the tab.
Copy, compare, or download
Copy sits on each hash. Paste a known checksum to see a match on the digest of the same length. Download report writes a text list.
What is a file hash?
A file hash is a short digest of the whole file. Sites publish SHA-256 or MD5 so you can check a download was not truncated or swapped. This tool hashes one file in the tab with MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384, or SHA-512, as hex or Base64, and can compare a known digest. Easy24 does not receive the file.
Why use this tool
- File Hash runs in a browser tab.
- MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384, and SHA-512, several at once
- Compare a known checksum. Hex or Base64. Copy and a text report
- No account. Unlimited on the free plan, 5 MB
Questions
What is a file hash?
A hash is a fixed digest of the file bytes. The same file always yields the same SHA-256. Change one byte and the digest changes. This page runs in your browser.
How do I use File Hash?
Drop a file. It appears under the drop zone. Select the algorithms you need, then copy a digest. Paste a checksum from a download page to check it matches.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Hashing uses the file in this tab. Easy24 does not receive it.
Which algorithms can I use?
MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384, and SHA-512. SHA-256 is the default. SHA-3 and BLAKE are not offered here.
MD5 or SHA-256?
MD5 still appears on older download pages. It is not collision-resistant. Prefer SHA-256 for new checks.
Hex or Base64?
Same bytes, different text. Most checksums are hex. Pick Base64 only if the value you were given is Base64.
Can I hash several files?
No. One file at a time. Drop another file or tap the X to replace it. Each selected algorithm has its own copy button.
File Hash or Hash Generator?
File Hash digests a file you drop. Hash Generator digests UTF-8 text you paste. HMAC Generator signs text with a secret.
How large can a file be?
5 MB on the free plan. Larger files need Pro later.
Is there a daily limit?
No. There is no daily cap on this tool.
Do I need an account?
No. Open the page and use it.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. It runs in the mobile browser.
